about

The fifth Eiscafe song. Rob did a lovely job with this. Again, the acoustic guitars were just a demo. The title comes from page 115 of Thomas Pynchon's 'Gravity's Rainbow', a book I've nabbed a few things from, i.e. The Soft Close-Ups band name.

lyrics

Smoke Of Certain Afternoons

The marker, the lip smear
The whiskey in the carpet
Held upwards, hungover
Skipped another heartbeat
Just hold on to something
An ironing board, a keyboard stand
Just hold on to one thing
You haven't nailed down

The leg cross, rolled ankle
A swimming pool eye flashes
The floral in the landscape
And Adam lost his glasses
Just hold on to something
A smokey bar, a strangers hand
Just hold on to one thing
You haven't nailed down
